Cowlin Noble Hill 2003

£14.50

The flagship of the former Cowlin estate, so much so that the estate is now named after it – Noble Hill.

Nobel Hill owner Kris Austin Tillery acknowledges that winemakers face a constant dilemma – release wines early to satisfy demand, or keep them cellared until they are approaching maturity and reaching the full potential. This 50:50 Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot blend is a good example. Receiving a somewhat stingy 3 stars from Platter on release, it has now developed into a wonderfully intense Bordeaux blend. Smooth, full bodied and firm, with cassis, smoky tannins and chocolate. The vinatage still has plenty of life in it, but it is drinking well now.  A classy wine from this award winning estate.
